As I look towards the 2013 season, I think the Utes number one priority has to be qualifying for a bowl game and gaining some respect in the conference by getting that ever elusive signature win.
2013 also marks the final Rivalry Game before the start of a two-year hiatus between these two schools, which will end a streak of 68 straight years of great games that can make your heart soar one year and completely tearing it out and stomping on it for good measure in others.
I recently asked Utah fans on Twitter about what was most important this season: Beating BYU or going to a bowl game?
I was shocked by the results.
#UteNation: If U had to choose, would you rather (retweet) lose to BYU, finish at least 6-6 & a bowl game or (favorite) beat BYU & go 5-7?

64% of those who responded on our highly unscientific and very flawed poll felt like beating BYU was more important than being bowl eligible. Now that surprising to me, especially after a 5-7 campaign last year. Would the results be different if there wasn’t a two-year hiatus in which the 2013 winner takes all (at least until 2016)?
What do you think?
Which side do you fall on? If you had to choose, would you rather beat the TDS and be 5-7 or lose to the Cougs, finish 6-6 or better and go bowling?
